Who hasn’t seen a horror episode of Say Yes to the Dress? You know the one. The bride brings along her fiancé’s ex-girlfriend, her jealous friend, family members who think she should be covered head to toe, and a negative nelly that tells her openly that she looks like a beluga whale in everything. It’s everything that you want to avoid. So, how do you filter through all of the negativity and invite uplifting people who will make dress shopping almost as special as your big day?
Don’t be afraid to say NO. If you don’t feel like a particular friend will be an asset at a fitting, don’t invite them. It may be tough, but it’s for your sanity too. If you want them to feel included, take them to pick invitations or cake… Everyone loves cake/
Bring your family – moms, dads, brothers, sisters. They know you better than most people, and they’ll be able to tell if you’re trying to please yourself or the group.

Get those bridesmaids in there, and let them choose a few gowns. They’re some of your closest friends. Trust that they know what you like.

Don’t bring your fiancé. Just don’t do it. He should see you for the first time on the big day.
