It’s September, which means Fall is practically here though warm temps are lingering and some of us are even still soaking up those glorious beach days. There’s an obvious transitional period happening; so, what kind of drinks are appropriate to serve guests or enjoy one-on-one with your honey once cool weather decides it’s here to stay? These seasonal spritzy-y takes from Plated, a spin off summer’s most notorious cocktail, The Aperol Spritz, are sure to help ease you into Autumn. The best part? Each recipe is a simple DIY project!
Pear-y Nice to Meet You Spritz
Refreshing, but familiar, like a hug from your best friend after they got an amazing haircut

Pear Simple Syrup
3 Bosc pears, washed and diced into .5-inch pieces
½ cup granulated sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 star anise pod
1.5 cups water
Steps
1. Add all ingredients to a medium pot.
2. Over medium heat, cook, stirring frequently, until sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cook until pears begin to break apart and flavors have melded, 15-20 minutes more.
3. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
4. Strain pear syrup, pressing pears to ensure all the syrup has been strained.
5. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
Spritz
1 Bosc pear
1/2 cup of Prosecco
1 oz. Aperol
2 tablespoons pear simple syrup
Steps
1. Fill a glass ¼ way with ice.
2. Add 2 tablespoons pear simple syrup, fill 1/2 cup with Prosecco, and top with 1 oz. Aperol.
3. Garnish with freshly sliced Bosc pear and enjoy!
Pomegranate Spritz
The Pomsky of spritzes with pomegranate and whiskey… with no Pomeranians or Huskies needed.

Spritz
2 tablespoons pomegranate juice
1/2 cup Prosecco
1 oz. whiskey
For garnish: lemon peel or ¼ cup pomegranate arils (seeds)
Steps
1. Fill a glass ¼ way with ice.
2. Add 2 tablespoons pomegranate juice, fill 1/2 way with Prosecco, and top with 1 oz. whiskey.
3. Garnish with a lemon peel or pomegranate arils.
4. Enjoy!
Rosemary Lambrusco Spritz
Spritzes are always sparkling white wine…why not with red?

Rosemary Simple Syrup
1 cup water
½ cup granulated sugar
8 sprigs rosemary
Steps
1. Add water, sugar, and rosemary sprigs to a medium pot over medium heat and cook until sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes.
2. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer 15-20 minutes, until flavors have melded.
3. Allow to cool and remove rosemary sprigs.
Spritz
1/2 cup Lambrusco
1 oz. rosemary simple syrup
2 sprigs rosemary
½ cup soda water
1 oz. Calvados
Steps
1. Fill a glass ¼ way with ice
2. Fill each glass ½ way with Lambrusco, add 1 oz. rosemary simple syrup, top with a splash of soda water, and finish with 1 oz. Calvados.
3. Stir with a fresh rosemary sprig and sip away!
