Sarah Darcy, editor of Classic Bride blog, had the vision to style a playfully preppy tennis-themed engagement session at a local tennis club in Charlottesville, Va.
With talented Sam Stroud behind the lens, Sarah set the scene by styling the models in an ivy-league aesthetic surrounded by carefully chosen props to evoke a collegiate vibe.
Sarah sourced antique and vintage wares for the shoot from her personal collection as well as from her wedding boutique, CB Vintage. Included were vintage wooden racquets, antique silver trophies, a well-worn copy of the Preppy Handbook, red French bistro chairs picked up at a brocante along the French border, and a vintage French champagne cooler. Rich and sumptuous leather goods from Moore & Giles rounded out the traditional feel.
Sarah styled the models in a mixture of preppy elements including argyle, gingham, seersucker, cashmere and pearls.
The shoot began in the late afternoon at the tennis courts and after setting up several fun vignettes and poses, we finished the shoot at a beautiful lake. A darling little wooden pier made the perfect stage for kisses and sweet embraces. The still water reflected the trees’ changing leaves beautifully as the sunlight slipped away.
