The Proposal
Ansel and Tessa approached Vanessa Venable leading up for their elopement. They wanted to seal away to picturesque Charleston, and avoid the stress and drama of a larger scale wedding. They planned an intimate slow morning getting ready at the Post House Inn, a stunning ceremony on the bay, and a day filled with diner milkshakes, sunshine strolls and soaking in their love for one another.

In Preparation
Tessa and Ansel decided to tie the knot overlooking the bay, with sunshine and palm trees all around them. Talk about a dreamy setting! The couple had their hearts set on creating an intimate and memorable elopement for just the two of them. And boy, did they succeed! With no distractions or outside pressure, they were able to fully relax and just be themselves. It was truly a joy to witness.

The Big Day
One of Vanessa Venable, the couple’s photographer’s favorite moments was when Ansel and Tessa had their first dance in their hotel room. They were so spontaneous and carefree, they just jumped on the bed, popped a bottle of champagne, and danced their hearts out. Vanessa couldn’t help but capture those precious moments on film.
The adventure didn’t stop there. After their impromptu dance party, Tessa and Ansel decided to take the celebration to the streets of colorful Charleston. Picture this: the two of them running through the vibrant streets, hand in hand, with the biggest smiles on their faces. It was like they were the only two people in the world, completely lost in their own little love bubble.
Vanessa can’t even begin to describe the love and genuine connection these two shared. You could just feel it radiating from them, and it was such an honor to document these timeless moments. As a photographer, Vanessa strives to capture authentic connections, and Tessa and Ansel definitely nailed it. Being able to photograph elopements like this is why Vanessa fell in love with documentary photography. It’s all about capturing real emotions, in motion, and preserving those genuine moments that will last a lifetime. To Vanessa, South Carolina offers the perfect backdrop for these intimate celebrations.
